Mondelēz International is one step further near to solar. That’s in part hat tip to the recent execution of the Roadrunner Solar Project, which has now become the largest functional solar farm in Texas.
Trailing off from Upton, Texas, the Roadrunner project owned and managed by Enel Green Power North America, recently completed its 245 MW second phase making a overall total of 497 MW.
A 12-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) was signed in June 2019 by the Mondelēz International with Enel Green Power North America for a 65-MW fragment of the Roadrunner project.
The energy supplied by this project is sufficient to generate more than 50% of all the Oreos consumed in the US throughout a year and will minimize Mondelēz International’s yearly CO2 release by 80,000 metric tons.
The agreement comprises of Mondelēz International’s largest renewable energy partnership at a world-wide level and its first renewable energy power purchase deal signed in the U.S.
