Ltd. speaks about the recent solutions offered by them for the F&B Industry, including discussing in detail on the various developments happening in the company in the area of automation and their future plans.
Edited Excerpts Below:
Can you please start by giving a brief description about TMEIC and some of the recent solutions offered by your company for the F&B Industry? How are your solutions helping solve problems faced by food manufacturers?
TMEIC is a joint venture between Toshiba and Mitsubishi that started its operations in 2003. We have been primarily engaged in the manufacture of AC medium voltage motors, AC medium voltage drives, Central grid solar inverters and UPS Systems having state of Art manufacturing facility in Tumakuru, near Bangalore since 2015. These solutions find their applications in diverse industries such as printing, packaging, automobile, F&B, Infrastructure, Textile, BFSI, healthcare, Data centre & as well as in IT and ITES sectors. Our UPS solutions have been considered to be highly reliable and efficient by many of our customers across industry segment.
Our solutions are catered primarily to the process industries. We have been offering our solutions to some of the leading companies in the F&B Industry, which include ITC, Hindustan Coca-Cola, Parle Agro, Daily fresh fruits, Amrit Bottlers, 123 foods, Sri Sarvaraya Sugars Limited, EPICU Beverages, etc. In the case of companies such as ITC, where several processing lines are maintained within its facility, there is a requirement for continuous power supply for all of its processing lines. Hence, there arises a practical necessity for an uninterruptible power solution to ensure smooth functioning of their automated machinery and also to reduce loss of material & productivity. This is where TMEIC UPS systems are an effective solution to tackle all types of power supply quality related problems that are faced during the production process.
TMEIC has also been delivering motors, drives to the steel, paper, aluminum, cement & other processing lines. Further, we have also been delivering automated systems for hot rolling mills and process lines. Recently, we launched a highly efficient Industrial grade UPS system in the market called TMUPS that ranges from 1000 kVA to 1800 kVA in addition to existing 100-600 kVA, with a variety of battery solutions 12V VRLA, Pure Lead thin plate technology, Nickle cadmium & lithium Ion. A notable feature is that this is expandable up to 6-8 units in parallel for redundancy & future capacity addition.
Reliability, efficiency & long life is the core of our product design. Since, we take proper care to ensure that all the products that we deliver are highly reliable, we have never witnessed any major breakdown till date. The technology is being supplied directly by our parent company Mitsubishi which has a legacy of more than 100 years of innovation. Hence, we can confidently state that we are in a position to offer reliable as well as efficient solutions for our valued customers.
What is TMEIC doing on the sustainability front? What’s the feedback that you’ve been hearing from the market towards such efforts?
Presently, we are focusing on minimizing the carbon footprint. We had recently offered the fuel of the future, which basically are rectifiers for hydrogen production. This time we are offering a new solution to achieve a high current DC power supply for the modern day electrolyzer technologies. We are now in a position to offer a highly efficient versatile power supply with low harmonics and ripple, unity power factor solution.
This is basically a new product that we are currently offering in the market. It comes with a combination of renewable energy and the electrolyzer. We are also working on bringing many new solutions into the market. One such solution being carrying out improvements in the existing process line. For instance, a customer that uses X process line with X type of material. As a new marketer, the customer is also looking to reduce the internal costs, including the operational costs. In such cases, we are helping our customers identify where the losses arise as well as the gaps that are present in their process line. By filling such gaps, we are presenting our customers with an effective solution to minimize such aspects. TMEIC PE factory in Tumakuru is a carbon neutral facility, wherein, we generate electricity though solar rooftop & storing the energy in Toshiba make superior LTO technology (SCiB) LI batteries. We also have water harvesting system & zero chemical discharge facilities within our campus.
How has the demand for your products been over the past one year?
India growth story continues & with Make in India initiative plus PLI scheme, we have witnessed very healthy demand for UPS systems from various Industries for diverse applications. The sudden demand from the Data centre has accelerated the growth.
We are presently catering to both domestic and export markets & exporting over 10,000 units of solar inverters every year, while the rest is consumed in our domestic market.
Please let us know briefly about the after sales service offered by TMEIC for its customers in the market?
In India, our service team comprising of around 50 well-trained engineers is available 24×7 to resolve, rectify any problems that may arise in running their processes/operations, apart from also providing confidence to our customers in the services that we offer. We have been receiving tremendous support for all our products in the market.
Moreover, we are also providing additional services to our customers by carrying out energy audits in their factories. By doing an energy audit, we even make them aware about the possibility/scope for improvements in their site. We are also remotely managing the entire process by uploading all the data on cloud, so that the problems come to our notice before it is known to the customer, which would help us in presenting the customer with a proper solution towards the same.
Would you update us on some of the recent developments happening in automation at TMEIC?
Presently, our team of 100 plus design and service engineers based out of Hyderabad have been carrying out the necessary software upgrades for various process systems. They study the process line and wherever necessary would install meters to fetch the data. Upon receipt of data, the customers are provided with a consolidated report, indicating to them about what they have been using and what are the necessary improvements that needs to be carried out and also assist our customers on the steps to be taken by them in the event of any failure. We are currently working on optimization of ports.
We have been providing automated solutions accompanied by data that is then compiled and shared with our customers, so that they are in a position to understand not only the status, but also any upgrades, revamp that is being carried out by us at the customer’s end.
