Nippon Express (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a group company of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, INC. (President: Satoshi Horikiri), held a completion ceremony on May 27 to mark the opening of a new warehouse—the Batu Kawan Logistics Center—near Batu Kawan Industrial Park, located on Peninsular Malaysia in Penang State.

The state of Penang has the second-largest economy in Malaysia after Greater Kuala Lumpur and, as a major semiconductor hub, has become known as the “Silicon Valley of the East.” The Penang state government is also actively seeking to attract medical equipment manufacturers, while strong domestic consumption and booming import/export operations are driving greater demand for logistics services, especially for semiconductor- and medical equipment-related products. NX Malaysia has opened a new warehouse near the Batu Kawan Industrial Park to help meet this growing demand.

      Batu Kawan Industrial Park

Batu Kawan Industrial Park is a relatively new industrial park that opened to tenants in 2011. Covering a total area of approximately 2,860 hectares, it is home to around 120 Japanese and other foreign companies from the semiconductor, medical equipment, electrical and electronics industries. The Penang Second Bridge and the north-south expressway place the park in close proximity, while Penang Airport lies approximately 25 km away and Kuala Lumpur about 300 km, making the location highly favorable.

The Batu Kawan Logistics Center is a state-of-the-art, fully air-conditioned facility with a total warehouse area of 9,204 m² and a ceiling height of 12 m, enabling it to accommodate customers’ needs for high value-added services.

The warehouse is equipped with high-floor berths, loading docks, and an electric dock leveler for efficient cargo handling, and 24-hour manned security and full CCTV coverage offer a high degree of security.

The facility can also handle ancillary operations such as repacking, kitting, and labeling, thereby providing optimal logistics operations to customers from a wide variety of industries.

The NX Group remains committed to building high-quality, global logistics platforms that extend logistics support to its customers’ businesses.
