To strengthen the agricultural sector in Tamil Nadu, Chief minister, E Palaniswami announced a thousand crore plan yesterday. A mega food processing park will be established in Nagapattinam worth Rs. 1000 Crore. This will be a huge stride of Tamil Nadu in the agricultural sector.
He proposed the plan after addressing collectorate and pondering on the ongoing pandemic and steps taken to deal with it. He said ” All the agricultural activities are now going at a good pace. About 28 lakh tonnes of paddy has been procured from the farmers in Cauvery delta districts amid the pandemic, which is a historic achievement, he said, adding, it is five lakh tonnes more as compared to the last year”.
Further he highlighted that new hospitals are being established to serve the people in the area. He emphasized that strict and very ambitious projects are coming up for the delta districts of Cauvery.
Infrastructure facilities have been improved to a great extent. Poor people now get easy access to high-quality healthcare in the state,” he said and added that a new medical college with a modern hospital is being constructed at Nagapattinam at a cost of Rs 365 crore.
Expressing his feelings on the incoming trade in the Tamil Nadu even in the pandemic, Mr. Palaniswami, stated that main priority of the government is to increase employment in the delta and mainland regions of the state.
Food park in the region will help to create new employment opportunities and there are also some plans to establish textile park in the region, He added.
