Nestlé Takes Part In Industry Movement for Sustainability in Europe

Nestlé teamed up with more than 50 other companies and industry bodies in buttressing a European initiative to make food more sustainable. Company is introducing fresh bid to create a more sustainable environment for production and services in more green way.

The EU Code of Conduct for Responsible Business and Marketing Practices sets out actions that food producers, food service, retailers and others can take up to make healthy and sustainable food choices simpler.

The company is contributing with a wide-ranging set of 23 commitments to alleviate the environmental footprint of products while contributing to health-giving and salubrious diets. The company will add more nutritious products to its product basket and roll out the Nutri-Score nutrition labelling system across Europe, where stakeholders are supportive.

On the environmental side, actions comprise helping hand for regenerative agriculture as well as a shift to 100% renewable energy and zero emission logistics.

Accomplishing many of these targets will require a full supply chain approach, working in close association with farmers and other companies to make a positive influence on communities and the environment. An enabling policy environment at European level can assist and the EU Code of Conduct is an uncommon opportunity for the European food and drink industry to pave the way.

The EU Code of Conduct is a key deliverable of the EU Farm to Fork Strategy and the company is fully determined to deliver on its contribution.
