Nestlé recently announced the fall through of its deal to sell its Canadian water portfolio to private bottled water company Ice River spring.
Reason behind this is disagreement in fulfilling the conditions of competition bureau’s regulations within the time frame decided by Nestlé.
Announced in July, the proposed agreement – for an undisclosed sum – included two factories located in Puslinch, Ontario and Hope, British Columbia, along with a well in Erin, Ontario.
Transaction was regarded contingent on efficient regulatory approval, if this was not achieved the Pure life will continue to be part of the company in US.
Review is finding alternatives and new strategic options for a proper sale in Canada and US.
Nestlé’s water business in US includes regional spring water brands namely PureLife brand and Ready refresh delivery services.
North American yearly review is expected to come by 2021.
