Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, MoFPI, Narendra Singh Tomar chaired two Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC) meetings via video conferencing to think about the proposals received under the Scheme for Creation for Infrastructure for Agro-Processing Cluster (APC) and the scheme for Creation / Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC) under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY). Minister of State, Rameshwar Teli also attended the virtual meeting. The promoters of the projects were also present in the meeting via video conference.

The proposals for  MoFPI projects rubber-stamped in the IMAC meetings will hopefully lead to a rise in the level of processing and value addition of horticultural / agricultural produce, which will eventually cause an increment in the income of the farmers and will open job opportunities at the local level.

The details of proposals which have received approval in the meetings are as follows:

Under CEFPPC:
11 proposals with total project cost of Rs 113.08 crore including grants-in-aid of Rs 36.30 crore in the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, and West Bengal.

These projects will leverage private investment of Rs 76.78 crore and are anticipated to create employment for 3,700 persons and assist 6,800 farmers.

The Scheme was given consent on 5th May, 2017 under PMKSY to encourage processing / preservation of agro food products and modernization / capacity enhancement of food processing. This will aid in increasing the level of processing and value addition thus cutting down the wastage of agro-produce.

Under Creation of Infrastructure for APC:
9 proposals with total project cost of Rs 250.32 crore including grants-in-aid of Rs 66.61 crore in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.

The scheme for Creation of Infrastructure for APC was given approval on 5th March, 2017 under PMKSY for motivating entrepreneurs to set up food processing units on the basis of cluster approach.
