Marico Ltd has brought onto plate a new afresh consumer trust building excercise and outreach program. Company is providing quality assurance certificates for the Honey under its sub-brand Saffola Honey. The certificates are provided under the scheme “come grab your own” initiative and consumers are encouraged to take the same prepared after 60+ quality checks.
Saffola Honey is manufactured at a USFDA registered plant and compliant with parameters mandated by FSSAI.
Marico chief operating officer Sanjay Mishra said that all the batch of Saffola honey is independently tested using NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) technology. The company launched honey in June this year, amid the pandemic which fuelled category sales to high double digits.
Packaged honey category had taken centre stage of the ruckus created some weeks back, when Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) said in a report that the honey sold by ten brands including Dabur, Patanjali, Zandu, Hitkari and Apis Himalaya are adulterated with sugar syrup. Companies referred it as a malafide act to defame their products and assured its compliance with FSSAI norms.
CSE only gave clearance to the brands like Saffola, Marked Sohna, and Nature’s Nectar.
The foods regulator has said it is closely examining the findings submitted by CSE and considering evolving guidelines for the category.
