In the fast-moving world of supply chain logistics, cold storage warehouses play a critical role. Accuracy in the pallet receiving process is essential, yet manual processes are often prone to human error, mislabeling, and inconsistencies due to the lack of standardization in 3PL warehouses. Lineage Logistics has introduced Lineage Eye, an AI-powered computer vision technology, to automate receiving and enhance inventory accuracy.

Addressing Inventory Challenges with Lineage Eye

Developed with accuracy in mind, Lineage Eye captures high-resolution images of pallets, extracts key product data, and flags errors in real-time to prevent costly mistakes. By streamlining the receiving process, this proprietary system is revolutionizing cold storage warehouse operations.

      Solving Cold Storage Receiving Challenges

Automated cold storage warehouses present unique opportunities and challenges. While storage capacity increases with taller, densely packed spaces, dock space remains limited. Efficient receiving is crucial for maintaining smooth operations. Delays at the dock can create ripple effects across supply chains, making automation a key solution.

Lineage’s Data Science team, led by Brian Leahy, Staff Data Scientist, was tasked with automating the receiving process—an industry-first challenge. Through close collaboration with warehouse operators and technology teams, they engineered Lineage Eye, bringing speed, accuracy, and efficiency to cold storage logistics.

      How Lineage Eye Works

Lineage Eye is a cutting-edge system that integrates AI, computer vision, and real-time automation into warehouse environments. Key features include:

Automated Photo Capture – Captures 13 high-resolution images of each pallet from multiple angles.
AI-Powered Computer Vision – Extracts critical data, including lot codes, batch numbers, expiration dates, and pallet configurations.
Automated Error Detection – Flags inventory discrepancies compared to shipment data, allowing corrections before storage.
Seamless Integration – Connects with LinOS (Lineage’s Warehouse Management System) and the UFO App for real-time accuracy checks.

Key Benefits for Customers & Warehouse Operations

Lineage Eye delivers measurable improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and compliance, including:

      • Enhanced Inventory Accuracy – Reduces the risk of mislabeled or miscounted products.
      • Faster Receiving & Throughput – Helps warehouse teams process shipments more efficiently.
      • Improved Compliance & Traceability – Captures photo documentation of every received pallet, simplifying audits and recall tracking.
      • Optimized Labor Efficiency – Reduces manual scanning tasks, allowing workers to focus on critical operations.

Innovating the Future of Cold Chain Logistics

As cold chain logistics evolve, Lineage Logistics remains committed to innovation. Lineage Eye is part of a broader effort to improve accuracy, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance supply chain operations. The collaboration between technology experts and warehouse teams ensures that Lineage Eye continues to adapt to industry needs.

By refining warehouse and supply chain operations, Lineage is setting new standards for efficiency and accuracy in cold storage logistics.
