Job Summary
We are looking for a expert who will responsible for small to mid-size tax cases within area of responsibility [within either Corporate Tax / Indirect Tax / Custom Duty / Employment Tax], applying specialised knowledge and supporting Senior Tax Managers / Tax Directors in more complex cases.
What you will do
As Tax Manager you will,
- Responsible for overall tax compliance work of GC entities, e.g. ensure all tax returns & payments are filed correctly and on time, provide ad-hoc consultancy to stakeholders, address tax compliance issues and potential solutions, etc
- Responsible for all tax accounting processes, including internal reporting & summary, forecasting and government report/survey needs
- Responsible for the overall management of the respective tax ops teams and tax COE in addition to their local tax manager role
- Responsible for the tax coordinator role for GC and the relationship with TLI tax
- Identify and drive continuous improvement and cost saving initiatives with respect to the tax compliance process and the end-to-end process. Seek out improvement areas and ensure that the processes work as they should in conjunction with global tax compliance requirements
- Directly manage a dedicated team of tax specialists within the tax ops COE with key focus on building and maintaining a global tax community with the other tax COEs
- Manage and coordinate responses to tax queries and requests from GC tax authorities & coordinate support from tax ops during tax audits
- Give input on detailed specification of process and system changes in SAP & support local SAP projects which impact tax ops
- Ensure that the internal procedures such as the end-to-end process for each tax, mapping flows, tax determination matrix and support documents are continually kept up to date and improved
- Organise, manage, and provide tax trainings to tax ops members and internal colleagues, e.g., onboarding of new entities and identifying training needs and requirements
- Support local tax team on various tax projects, e.g. incentive application, company liquidation, tax refund, TP monitoring, etc
- Manage internal and external stakeholders, e.g. develop and maintain stable relationship with local tax bureaus, communication with external tax advisors and auditors
- Assist Director Tax Operations with day-to-day tasks required to run tax ops effectively, i.e., brainstorm to find new ways of reducing costs and improving processes (including research on external best practices), participation in key meetings, support with specific projects/workshops etc
Who You Are
We believe you will have,
- Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in taxes gained from a previous role, including tax compliance experience, with 3-5 years’ experience at manager level (“Big 4” experience also an advantage)
- Honors Business University degree & holder of a recognized professional tax qualification
- Fluency in English is essential and ability to speak a second language an advantage
- Strong ERP knowledge is essential with SAP knowledge an advantage
- Ability to effectively people manage and motivate a diverse and multi-location-based tax ops team
- Can demonstrate excellent listening and communication skills both written and oral
- Continuous process improvement and cost saving skills & mentality essential
- Ability to troubleshoot with respect to tax compliance issues
- Ability to communicate effectively with tax ops colleagues and key internal & external stakeholders
- Ability to document processes and functional specifications
- Ability to working effectively in a global team-based environment
- Ability to handle many tasks simultaneously and set key priorities
- Open minded to new technology and willing to take new challenges
- Tax qualifications, i.e. CPA, CTA, ACCA are preferred
