Payroll at Tetra Pak is complex, fast-paced and ideal if you enjoy a challenge. Tetra Pak is now seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our North American HR Service Center and team of payroll professionals to deliver highly accurate and timely payroll to its employees in the US & Canada. In this role, you will run multiple payroll processes and resolve, what is often, complex questions for our internal customers. In this role, you will use your inquisitive mindset and payroll knowledge to continually improve current processes and research issues to discover root causes. Our team works together across borders to deliver the best service to our colleagues in the business.
The position is based in Vernon Hills, IL.
Tetra Pak is not considering applicants (Internal or External) who require International relocation to the United States.
What you will do
As a Payroll Specialist US&CA you will:
- Execute payroll processes and payments accurately and in a timely manner. Use existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems. Ensure proper updates are made in relevant local payroll / time management systems.
- Be responsible for the calculation of retroactive payments, severance payments, short term disability, garnishments, time keeping and other payments as required to process payroll.
- Create ad hoc reports for stakeholders as well as support audit requests when relevant.
- Respond to employee inquiries with a strong customer focus. Liaise or escalate queries to relevant HR contact when necessary on specific areas of inquiry to provide seamless resolution. Manage, track and follow up on employee inquiries in the ticket handling system.
- Guide and direct employees and managers to information on the HR self-service portal (ORBIS) to foster a habit of finding the necessary data on the portal.
- Participate in monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations, audits, and perform routine analysis ensuring accuracy of the data in the payroll system.
Who you are
We believe you have:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent skills and experience is required.
- A least 2 years of solid payroll process experience.
- Working knowledge of payroll systems including UltiPro.
- Working with Union payroll is preferred.
- Experience of working in a customer facing environment is preferred.
- Inquisitive and critical thinking skills.
- Detail-orientation and discipline to follow procedures and deliver accurate results.
- A constructive way of communicating about issues, both major and minor.
- High customer orientation.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to change.
