Roles and Responsibilities & Key Deliverables:
Trials and Research:
- Conduct nutrient management trials and evaluate different generations of seed to assess their impact on yield in ware potatoes.
- Plan and conduct variety evaluation trials to identify suitable QSR varieties.
- Execute factory-scale trials to assess the performance of new varieties after processing.
- Conduct Multilocation Varietal Trials for new commercialized varieties across different territories.
- Lead the execution of commercial demonstration trials to showcase best practices and new technologies.
- Record, analyze, and present findings from all trials to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement.
Knowledge Transfer:
- Assist in developing and communicating the variety and geography specific Package of Practices (POP) based on best agronomy practices and historical data.
- Support training programs for regional suppliers and growers on crop management, sustainable farming practices, pest and disease control, and quality improvement.
- Disseminate agronomic knowledge to grower communities to enhance crop yields, quality, and sustainability.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with sustainability requirements such as pesticide, fertilizer, and water usage records using systems like AgPortal and GMS.
Collaboration and Networking:
- Gather insights from institutions, senior management, McCain Ag Net, SAU, and practical experiences from farmers to effectively train the contract farming team.
- Collaborate with the contract farming team to understand challenges and design yield improvement trials for practical solutions.
- Address potato storage-related issues, ensure compliance with local regulations, and recommend best management practices to the supply team.
- Identify and diagnose storage-related diseases, conduct storage experiments using analytical experimental design, and propose appropriate solutions.
- Maintain strong relationships with the operations team involved in processing potatoes to understand seed-related concerns and provide efficient support to the supply chain and contract farming teams.
- Maintain relationships with government officials and coordinate the process for Seed Sale License and Seed Registration License as per legal norms and government requirements.
Requirements
Academic:

- Must have: A Master’s degree in Agriculture/Horticulture with 2-5 years of experience in variety trial and or breeding and or crop production, preferably in potato crop.
Related Work Experience (Internal to the organization or external):
-
- Should have previous experience in developing POP (package of practices) for crops and should have thorough knowledge of conducting agronomy trials.
