PROCUREMENT STRATEGY & INSIGHTS
The Procurement Strategy & Insights Team is team formed 2.5 years ago, serving as the nerve center of the Unilever global procurement organization, enabling the procurement organization to design and deliver step-change across value chains, operating processes and tools, and business models. With vision of Translating Knowledge & Data into Future Fit Procurement Strategy & Insights, as the key enabler of Lighthouse strategy this team is responsible for:
- Sensing, incubating, and enabling innovative ideas, new business models, and transformation programs for disruptive value creation across procurement teams
- Creating and implementing standardized processes and data-led verdicts making to ease operating effectiveness and drive better and faster outcomes
- Identifying, scaling, and spreading best practices across the global procurement organization, within and across teams
- Facilitating rapid learning, capability development, and future-fit upskilling of our people
- With a growing agenda and scope, the Procurement Strategy & Insights Team now consists 4 sub-teams:
- Strategy team, reporting to Focus of Five and Power of One Procurement VPs and dot line to Head of
- Procurement Strategy, drive the BG/Po1 strategy and drive BG/Po1 insights and land implementation.
- Insights team, reporting Head of Strategy & Insights and drive the central procurement insight agenda along with Competitive Buying and other Lighthouse programs, as well as drive cross BG/Po1 transformation projects.
- Digital team, reporting to Head of Strategy & Insights and drive central procurement digital program, from building data foundation, develop advanced analysis use cases and services, and drive digital transformation across 7 steps. We are recently intergrade Business Operation Sustainability team to cover Sustainability digital program in this team as well.
- Data & AI Innovation team, reporting to Head of Strategy & Insights, this newly set team and 100% focused on innovating advantaged analysis use cases and Procurement GPT products and AI agents for Procurement and Sustainability, which doesn’t exist in the market.
JOB PURPOSE
- Reporting to the Senior Procurement & BOS Manager, Strategy & Insights the purpose of this role is:
- Utilizing data to drive future-fit procurement strategy and create value in competitive buying, portfolio strategy development, resilience & partnership.
- Enable data and insights-led business verdicts.
- Project management for the Digital program, closely work with both internal and external to make sure the OTIF deliverable.
- Build strategic partnership with other data and digital team across Unilever Organization (e.g. D&A, IT, R&D, Finance)
- Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies for partnerships in market intelligence and competitive buying.
- Improve the user experience and culture, organized the training and digital upskilling sessions across procurement to improvement the overall adoption.
KEY INTERACTIONS
- The Assistant Procurement & BOS Manager, Procurement Strategy & Insights will interface with following stakeholders:

- Head of Global Procurement Strategy & Insights.
- Procurement Strategy & Insights Leads.

- Procurement Finance Team.
- Supplier Operations Team.
- Digital & Data team in other cross function team (ie., R&D, Finance, etc).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Co-own Data Strategy
- Identify, transform, and connect all procurement relevant data.
- Ensure consistent and trusted data across Procurement Organization.
- Democratize data for self-service analysis and insights generation.
- Support Sourcing Team on Business Intelligence and Advance Analysis for value creation
- Strategic Business Partnering.
- Work closely with business and/or procurement stakeholders to understand their goals and understand how data can be used to achieve those goals.
- Pave the way the Insights creation from available data and drive digitalization, based on a good understanding of the data architecture and guiding the mining process, for portfolio strategy development and taking the right call.
- Pave the way for Future-fit Digital Product development for Global Procurement. Overall project management for digital initiatives / solutions in collaboration with other Strategy & Insights team members.
- Drive user adoption and NPS, drive Digital & Data upskilling session within Procurement Community.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 3-5 years related experience in a procurement role either in Unilever / FMCG industry or in a large complex organization with strong portfolio and market expertise. With data skills is a plus.
- Good business sense and commercial acumen.
- Comprehend procurement procedures, policies, operational practices, and governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated skills in a large community with good rational thinking.
- Good data led skills, able to make sense of large amounts of data and market intelligence.
- Familiarity with basic relational databases, SQL, and data lake ecosystem.
- Experience of working in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment – both F2F and virtually.
