IM GROUP has announced the development of two new customized hoses made from UPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) for its dispensing division, Inkmaker Applications. This strategic move comes in response to quality concerns related to EPDM hoses and underscores the group’s ongoing commitment to delivering innovative, high-performance solutions. The new hoses were developed for Inkmaker, in collaboration with one of the world’s largest hose manufacturers.
These bespoke UPE Hoses are a testament to IM Group maintaining their focus on meeting the precise technical requirements of Inkmaker systems. The hoses have undergone extensive testing, including a conductivity test and tests for chemical resistance against substances such as MEK (methyl ethyl ketone), one of the most aggressive solvents, even though MEK is rarely present in ink and paint formulations. This precautionary testing further ensures their reliability across various industrial applications.
“Our priority was to ensure chemical resistance, electric conductivity, and flexibility for movable installations while maintaining superior performance in demanding industrial environments. We are proud to deliver customized solutions that not only meet but exceed industry standards for safety and performance for our clients.”

The new hoses come in two variants:
- 2-Layer Hose: Designed for static installations, these hoses offer exceptionally high chemical resistance, and are ideal for general circuits.
- 4-Layer Hose: Engineered for higher chemical resistance and increased flexibility, these hoses are specifically suited for movable installations, such as those found in dispensing heads.
Both hoses feature an external protective layer made from black EPDM, providing resistance to abrasion, ozone, and fire. Additionally, the hoses are fully compliant with ATEX/Ex requirements for installation in an Explosive Environment, being anti-static with surface resistance below 1 MΩ (<10 6 Ω) and internal resistance below 1 GΩ ((<10 9 Ω), according to the relevant standards, Electrostatic Hazards, Rubber, thermoplastics hoses, and hose assemblies for liquid or gaseous chemicals.
Hoses are SD Type, suitable for suction and delivery with both positive and negative pressure, with 16 bars Standard. Operating Pressure, 64 bars Explosion Pressure for the 2-layer and 48 bars Explosion Pressure for the 4-layer, where Inkmaker systems typically operate at around 6 bars.
“IM GROUP continues to push the boundaries of product development, and this new hose technology is just one of the many exciting innovations we are working on.”
