The Gartner Critical Capabilities for Transportation Management Systems Guide
Intended as a companion piece to Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Transportation Management Systems, the Critical Capabilities research evaluates TMS vendors based on key capabilities across five major use cases based on levels of complexity.

C.H. Robinson was recognized among the six highest ranked TMS providers in each of the use cases due to a large and extended carrier network, well-designed UI, and embedded visibility. The report also highlights C.H. Robinson innovations including real-time rating and quoting, enhanced analytics offering, and advanced shipment planning optimization for self-service workflows.

Addressing shippers’ top concerns with TMS innovations
Faced with multiple disruptions ranging from trade and tariff uncertainty, severe weather events, demand and capacity fluctuations, and labor strikes, more shippers are prioritizing and investing in TMS solutions like C.H. Robinson’s Navisphere to enhance efficiency and resiliency. C.H. Robinson continues to innovate its TMS technology to meet shippers concerns head-on, including:

Cost-savings: Cutting costs out of their supply chain remains a key concern for many shippers in 2025. Navisphere’s TMS technology consolidates supply chain data into a single, global platform, enabling shippers to uncover efficiencies and reduce expenses. Optimization capabilities within the TMS help shippers establish the optimal freight shipment plan for their unique business goals, saving an average of 8%—or as much as 30%—on shipping.
Real-time visibility: According to the company’s latest customer research, 52% of shippers believe achieving greater real-time visibility was most critical to their success in 2025. Advanced visibility features integrate predictive analytics and real-time tracking embedded in the TMS, empowering shippers to proactively monitor inventory, anticipate disruptions, and take corrective action before issues arise.
Automation: With the rapid pace of change and disruption, shippers are seeking to streamline operations and reduce manual workload. C.H. Robinson leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to automate key processes across the entire lifecycle of a shipment from quoting to scheduling delivery appointments to invoicing. With over 10,000 email transactions per day no longer done manually, new proprietary tech serves customers in seconds.
By continuously evolving its TMS technology, C.H. Robinson delivers the flexibility, scalability, and reliability that shippers need to stay competitive in today’s complex logistics environment.

      A commitment to customer-centric solutions

“We believe these recognitions underscore C.H. Robinson’s commitment to advancing innovation and providing end-to-end solutions through our technology, unmatched expertise, and unrivaled scale,” said Jordan Kass, President of C.H. Robinson’s Managed Solutions. “As shippers navigate ongoing disruptions, uncertainty, and pressure, we’re leaning into these tough challenges to build stronger, smarter supply chains for today and tomorrow.”

C.H. Robinson’s Managed Solutions offers customers global TMS technology combined with a broad menu of managed services tailored specifically to their unique needs. With access to the largest network of truckload capacity in North America and end-to-end solutions that integrate demand and supply signals across multiple channels and regions, C.H.
