On World Sight Day, Flagship company of The Pahwa Group, Bry-Air (Asia) paid a tribute to Padma Shri Dr. Mathra Das Pahwa. More than half a million surgeries have been conducted by Dr. Pahwa during his lifetime. A number of people have been able to gain their eyesight through his efforts. Being a distinguished eye surgeon, Dr. Mathra Das Pahwa is also known for his charitable work for the underprivileged in the field of vision, particularly for cataract surgery. He had set a record by conducting 750 operations in a single day, which has made him the world’s greatest eye operator, winning for himself epithets such as Netra-Dev (God of the eyes). Some of the awards that he has been honoured with are The Padma Shri (1954), Title of Rai Bahadur (1921), Kesari Hind- Gold Medal (1924), Kesari Hind- Silver Medal (1912) and a few more in recognition of his contribution to the society.

Through “Dr. Mathra Das Pahwa – Vision Outreach Program”, Bry-Air continues to carry forward the legacy, in which eye camps are being set up, in addition to providing spectacles, medicines as well as performing Cataract surgery free of any charges after consultation and check-ups. Over all these years, the company has set up 99 charitable eye camps till date in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR.

Bry-Air’s main objective has been to reach out to the direct beneficiaries through its CSR initiatives, wherein, it has focused primarily on Vision (Eye Care), Education, Environment and Sustainability of the community. Bry-Air in association with their NGO partners has touched over 56,000 lives directly over the last decade.
