Ajrena Foods Ltd. has built a state-of-the-art peanut-cleaning and coated-snack processing plant in Kano, which means Nigerians can enjoy the firm’s high-quality and convenient food products. On Wednesday, an important ceremony to commission this project was attended by key public, private, and national partners as well as development partners.

Mr. Ramnani, the Executive Director of Ajrena Foods Ltd., thanked the FCDO at the event for backing Ajrena’s work in Africa.

“Thanks to their generous grant, we have not only built this world-class facility but also equipped it with advanced machinery required to clean our locally grown peanuts and produce our flagship Nutzy-coated peanut snacks. Without the FCDO’s belief in our vision—and their financial support—none of this would have been possible.”

      – Mr. Ramnani, the Executive Director of Ajrena Foods Ltd.

He further noted that, in collaboration with FCDO’s delivery partner, Propcom+, the company launched its first outgrower scheme in 2024. The initiative trained 1,000 farmers—primarily women and youth—in best agricultural practices, provided quality inputs, and introduced traceability systems from farm to factory.

“This backwards integration helps us meet and exceed global quality standards, strengthens rural livelihoods, and sets the stage for the return of Kano’s iconic ‘groundnut pyramids.”

“Every machine here, every square meter of warehouse space, is a testament to what can be achieved when vision is matched with meaningful support—especially the vital backing of the FCDO and its implementing partner, Propcom+.”

-Mr. Ramnani, the Executive Director of Ajrena Foods Ltd.

Ramnani emphasized that the new facility is dedicated solely to cleaning peanuts and processing Nutzy-coated snacks.

Dr. Adiya Ode, who is team lead of Propcom+ and political director, explained at the event how Propcom+ provided money and experience in setting up the new center.

Dr. Adiya Ode praised Ajrena Foods for the launch and made clear how important it is to create sustainable supply chains.

“We worked closely with them to develop their supply chain so that local farmers benefit directly from this investment. These farmers, who are producing groundnuts, are now fully integrated into the company’s supply network. This is a true partnership, with Propcom+ providing grants and Ajrena contributing resources to make this vision a reality.”

Kano State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Daniuma Mahmoud, who was represented by Mallam Aminu Iliyasu, praised the company’s plan and restated the government’s backing for growth in agricultural industry

“The administration of Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf is fully committed to supporting initiatives that create an enabling environment for private sector investments,”

“Promoting agro-based industries aligns with our strategy to harness the abundant produce of our farmers, reduce dependency on imports, and drive economic growth. I believe this factory will pave the way for more such investments across the state, using modern technology and innovation to expand agricultural markets, enhance revenue, and create jobs for our growing youth population.”
