ADM’s soybean processing facility in Lincoln, Neb., plays a vital role in supporting the heart of America’s agricultural economy. By processing locally grown soybeans into high-quality oil, hulls, and meal—critical ingredients for food, feed, and biofuels—the plant connects regional farmers to global markets and strengthens the rural economy.

To ensure this facility continues to fulfill that role for years to come, ADM is making a major investment in its future. A second vertical seed conditioner, or VSC, is being installed to enhance the plant’s operational efficiency and long-term sustainability. This equipment conditions soybeans by heating and lightly drying them before cracking—ensuring the process runs smoothly and supports reliable, high-yield output. With this upgrade, ADM reinforces the site’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality ingredients for customers and greater value for producers.

“A second VSC will help this plant maintain optimum conditioning parameters needed to produce high-quality flaked soybeans prior to the extraction process.”

      – Eric Fasnacht, director of operations at the Lincoln facility.

The project is a collaborative effort, led by a cross-functional team from Operations, Capital Projects (CapEx), and Operations Tech Support.

“Operations is responsible for supporting project safety and schedule and ultimately owning the completed project. CapEx oversees engineering, construction, and the project’s budget and timeline. Operations Tech Support manages process design, material selection, controls, and integration into Lincoln’s existing systems.”

      – Eric Fasnacht, director of operations at the Lincoln facility.

      Feature of VSC

The new VSC will reduce hexane loss and improve overall plant yields—boosting operational efficiency and helping ADM extract greater value from every bushel of soybeans. That added efficiency supports local growers by ensuring crops are at the highest standards and meet evolving customer expectations. By optimizing its capabilities, the Lincoln plant helps create more predictable demand and reinforces ADM’s role as a trusted market channel for regional farmers.

This multimillion-dollar project also supports the local economy by engaging skilled trades and contractors in the Lincoln area—from welders and engineers to electricians and technicians. In doing so, it contributes to regional economic stability and strengthens ADM’s role as a community partner.

ADM’s continued investment in Lincoln reflects a long-term commitment to the people, growers, and communities that form the foundation of American agriculture. This upgrade is part of a broader mission to strengthen operations, empower our workforce, and ensure lasting success for stakeholders across the agricultural supply chain.

“This is a large-dollar capital commitment for the Lincoln facility and provides the plant with the tools to be successful. It’s not just about the money but also the people needed to complete this project by mid-2026.”

      – Eric Fasnacht, director of operations at the Lincoln facility.
